Boss RC-3 Loop Station

I was looking for a looper pedal that you can store loops and backing tracks on, mainly for practicing.

The new TC Electronic Ditto Looper X2 looked promising, but although you can upload loops to it, it looks like you can only store one loop at a time.

I happened to spot a Boss RC-3 in a local shop secondhand which also came with the Boss PSU so I bought that instead.

There are 99 Memory banks and 3 hours of storage, more than enough for most people.

You can download some loops to practice with from the Boss website which are good fun, and also get firmware updates which solve some of the issues the pedal had originally.

To use the pedal in a live situation, you really need to use an external footswitch. The Boss FS-6  pedal is a bit on the large side, so I went for a Skinny Little Twins foot switch instead.

The left hand switch will stop the playback, clear the memory bank and tap tempo, the right hand switch will scroll up and down the memory banks.

If you want to build your own version, make sure the switches are push to break (normally on).
